Our hearts go out to everyone impacted in the west and the east as climate events destroyed their communities with fire and rain. All of us are susceptible as Nature adjusts the world to new operating conditions. As today’s news cycles move past these moments, we need to remember and continue to help family, friends and strangers whose lives have been devastated.
ASHRAE has announced that the new wildfire smoke protection Guideline 44-2024 is available for free until February 11. ASHRAE’s new guidelines lists maintaining positive building pressure, as we’ve advocated, among the important things to do. The rationale behind maintaining positive building pressure during these events is described in detail in our analysis article (Where the Wildfire Smoke Goes) from July 2023.
