Ty and I have been writing some articles related to the design and construction of Equinox House.
The first article we wrote appeared in the September issue of Appliance Design Magazine. It discusses the energy impact of appliances on zero energy buildings like Equinox. The article can be found here.
We are also writing a monthly column for ASHRAE, The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers. This is the premier society for building conditioning with over 50,000 members worldwide. Members are responsible for creating most of the building conditioning and ventilation standards in use today. The society has been at the forefront and prioritized the importance of increasing energy efficiency. We are grateful for them giving us the chance to present our work on Equinox House in their journal.
Our first column appears in the September issue and is an introduction to ourselves and the Equinox House project. You can read the article here. I will post the article each month as it is available. We will be progressing through the design and selection of the different components and features which make up Equinox.
We are also hosting an open house for Equinox this Saturday from 10am to 3pm as part of the Illinois Solar Energy Association. The poster for the tour is below.
