Nov 20, 2009: Rainwater and Solar Conduit

It’s been a long and rainy week! First some shots of what was accomplished before the rains came. The driveway was prepared and poured.

We ran lots of pvc pipe for the rain water collection and electrical conduit for the solar system.

Ok, so since that beautiful, sunny week we had, a week of torrential downpours followed. Ty and I worked 8 hours on Sunday to finish the electrical conduit. It was a cold, wet, and muddy job. We endured some light rain, but then the heavy stuff came. Here is the aftermath…

Luckily no damage was done. The pipes attached to the tank only turned in the fittings and the electrical conduit had enough slack to move. So we pumped the water out and added a temporary solution. Hopefully we don’t find a backhoe on its roof after the next rain.

This weekend looks nice and should allow things to dry out. We may try to cut the plywood for the sill plates. On Monday we have an inspection scheduled for the electrical conduit that if passed will allow us to fill the trench and tank hole.

Monday the plumbers will also hopefully finish the drain piped in the house so that an inspection can be done and the slab poured. If the slab can be poured and the holes backfilled we will feel better about resting for the long holiday weekend.
