Friday we had a successful plumbing inspection and today the structural and electrical inspections went well meaning that the drywall delivered on Friday can be installed starting tomorrow.
There were just a few things to correct from the inspections, but nothing that will cause delay.
In a previous blog entry we showed the recycling of the protective shipping plastic for the house SIP panels. Last week we took a load of scrap metal that had been accumulating from the site. It added up to about a truckload of copper wiring, steel strapping, and aluminum flashing scraps among others. It all went to Mack’s Twin City Recycling in Urbana. The receipt shows a total of about 350lbs of metal scrap recycled netting $100.

Here is the drywall being delivered. That’s a lot of 5/8″ thick sheetrock.

Today the fiber cement siding installation was started. It should go up fairly quickly. The base color is a grayish brown with a darker brown trim on the corners and along the bottom and top of the windows.

The work on the house conditioning and ventilation ducts is progressing well. All of the ducts have been laid out and for the most part assembled. Making sure all the proper ducts are insulated and the connections are sealed will continue in the utility chase while drywall is installed. The large silver duct below is the return/exhaust which pulls air from the kitchen and bathroom areas. The black duct is insulated supply air going to the living area and bedrooms.
