Dec 17, 2009: Roof Panels

Another beautiful day, another full day of panel installation!

The Southern roof panels have been installed and today the work moved to the installation of the clerestory wall panels and the North roof.

Here are some interior shots that show the construction of the load bearing wall that runs alongside the clerestory window wall. This wall supports the North roof panels and encloses the utility chase/storage area.

The day ended with a few of the North side panels being installed as well. The light level wasn’t great, so some of the pictures are a little blurry.

Again from the inside with two of the North roof panels in place. Light coming into the house through the clerestory windows will mostly hit the ceiling and be diffuse as it illuminates the room below. This will provide nice room lighting without sun rays directly shining into eyes. We will also look at some sort of window shades that may also double as extra insulation over with windows at night when needed.

Tomorrow the panel installation should be completed. Hopefully before the rain/snow is expected to arrive in the afternoon and evening.
