Jul 21, 2010: Rainwater System, Trim

Electrical is just about finished. Wires and conduit have been run to the sub combination panel and the new main computerized panel.

We installed a cellular wireless connection in the house so that the panel is connected to the internet. This allows us to control and monitor the house circuits online. As we get things set up we will be able to post house energy data on the web.

The roof cleaning mechanisms for the rain water collection system was connected at each corner of the house. Since these pictures were taken we painted the pipe to match the dark brown eaves and roof flashing. So far it appears that our underground connections to the tank are all intact. The tank is full right now, so the rainwater has been coming out of the tank overflow and flowing where the future rain garden will be placed.

Interior wood trim work has begun. All of the trim was pre-stained in the garage over the past few weeks. Two places that are a little different than conventional homes are trimming the electrical conduit and the deep window sills. A few methods were tried and from them a fairly easy, but good looking configuration was chosen to finish out the windows and baseboard electrical.

Most of the pocket doors have been installed. This week the plumbers should be back to finish installing the toilets and sink fixtures.
