Apr 9, 2010: Roof Cont., Grading, Electrical

The wet and muddy site has dried out a bit without rain the past few days. While the high winds have slowed progress on the roof, it did help to dry. With that, the site was graded to help dry things further and to shape the ground for future rain drainage.

In addition to shaping the ground, a layer of topsoil will be added that was scraped away before construction began.

The first picture also shows the shadow edge on the windows. Ever closer to the bottom.

Cement was poured at the house entryway and the driveway approach from the street. A sidewalk to the front door will be put in later. We plan to use a pervious concrete for that walkway to allow rainwater to drain through the path.

More progress was made on the roof. Tomorrow the few remaining main roof panels will be installed. Also left to install are panels on the underside of the roof overhang. These are the same as the white main roof panels.

Things are progressing at a good pace on the interior electrical. Next week that should be finished and inspected. Plumbing should also be starting soon. Drywall is set to go in after all plumbing and electrical is inspected so that the walls can be covered. That should start the week of the 26th. Siding has been ordered and will arrive the first week of May. Lots going on and so far a June completion date looks to be on track.

Below is a view down the main utility chase. On the left are the electrical boxes for the main living area lighting seen earlier. Electrical and plumbing are able to be run down the entire length of the house through this space. The house comfort conditioning system and heat pump water heater / dehumidifier will also be located up here. This opens up for usable floor space on the main level. We are hard at work at the lab testing these units.
