Incredible Flexibility

From new construction to retrofit, dedicated ductwork to integration with an existing air handler, the CERV can do it! The versatility of the CERV2 smart ventilation system extends far beyond its standalone capabilities, showcasing remarkable flexibility in integration with existing HVAC systems. The CERV2 comes standard with 8″ round rigid ductwork for each of the four air connection ports.

Dedicated Ductwork

One configuration involves the utilization of dedicated ductwork tailored specifically for the CERV. In this setup, the system adeptly pulls stale air from high-pollutant areas like bathrooms and kitchens, effectively removing pollutants, moisture, and odors. Subsequently, it delivers freshly conditioned air to living spaces, ensuring optimal indoor air quality and comfort throughout the home. This configuration is great for new construction projects or renovations where custom ductwork can be seamlessly incorporated into the design.

Magic-Box Concept: Ducted Heat-Pump and Dehumidifier in-line with CERV

In many low-load homes, a ducted heat pump (typically 9000-12000btu) and dehumidifier may be directly ducted in-line with the CERV to satisfy the entire home’s heating, cooling, ventilation, and dehumidification needs. In this scenario, the CERV can directly control both the heat pump and dehumidifier, intelligently managing total house comfort as well as indoor air quality.

The right image shows the dehumidifier on and air passing through both devices

CERV2 With Forced Air System:
Dedicated CERV Return, CERV Supply to Forced Air System

Alternatively, the CERV2 seamlessly integrates with central air handlers, offering a seamless solution for homes equipped with existing HVAC systems. In one configuration, the CERV maintains its dedicated return ductwork for extracting air from bathrooms and kitchens while supplying fresh air to the central system. This integration can occur either on the return side, where the CERV feeds air directly into the central system, or on the supply side, utilizing a backdraft damper. This approach allows for the efficient distribution of fresh air throughout the home while leveraging the existing infrastructure of the central HVAC system.

CERV Return from Forced Air System Return, CERV Supply to Forced Air System Return

In many scenarios, such as retrofits or situations where installing new ductwork is impractical, the CERV2 offers a unique solution by pulling air from the central system’s return. In this setup, the CERV effectively functions as an air purifier and fresh air injector within the existing HVAC framework. By extracting pollutants and replenishing with fresh air, the system enhances indoor air quality without the need for extensive modifications or additional ductwork. This configuration is particularly advantageous for older homes or buildings where adding new ductwork can be challenging.
