{"id":1641,"date":"2009-11-09T15:40:28","date_gmt":"2009-11-09T15:40:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.xtigre.com\/NI\/?p=272"},"modified":"2022-04-18T20:49:39","modified_gmt":"2022-04-18T20:49:39","slug":"nov-09-2009-pouring-icf-concrete","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buildequinox.com\/store\/equinox-blog\/nov-09-2009-pouring-icf-concrete\/","title":{"rendered":"Nov 09, 2009: Pouring ICF Concrete"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s time to pour concrete inside of the ICF blocks to finish the foundation. \u00a0A conveyor truck was brought in to make it easy to fill along the wall perimeter.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->[nggallery id=30]<\/p>\n<p>Now that the foundation has been completed, the grade around the house can be filled and shaped to the correct levels.\u00a0 The ground inside the house must also be raised and prepared for the concrete slab to be poured. \u00a0The final SIP drawings have been completed and we received word that the panels should arrive this week.<\/p>\n<p>I have mentioned SIPs a few times, but have not gone into detail about them. \u00a0SIP stands for structural insulated panel. \u00a0It is a sandwich of wood and insulation that creates a very well insulated and sealed house. \u00a0We are going with 12&#8243; thick wall<br \/>\npanels from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.portersips.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Porter SIPs<\/a> in Holland, MI. \u00a0You can read more about them on their site.<\/p>\n<p>The panels are designed and prefabricated off-site and are assembled in a matter of days to complete the house wall and roof structure. \u00a0This creates virtually no construction waste, similar to using the ICF blocks. \u00a0The assembly of the SIPs should<br \/>\nhopefully begin next week.<\/p>\n<p>[nggallery id=31 template=caption]<\/p>\n<p>With the concrete poured in the post holes, the rest of the system will be ready to be installed after a few days of cement curing.\u00a0 We&#8217;ve come a long way in about a month and a half. \u00a0From an empty lot to having the basic structures for the house and solar<br \/>\nsystem completed. \u00a0In the next few weeks both the house and solar system should look fairly complete from the outside. \u00a0There will be a lot of wiring and interior work left to complete.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s time to pour concrete inside of the ICF blocks to finish the foundation. \u00a0A conveyor truck was brought in to make it easy to fill along the wall perimeter.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"spay_email":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[2],"tags":[],"featured_image_urls":{"full":"","thumbnail":"","medium":"","medium_large":"","large":"","1536x1536":"","2048x2048":"","woocommerce_thumbnail":"","woocommerce_single":"","woocommerce_gallery_thumbnail":"","shop_catalog":"","shop_single":"","shop_thumbnail":""},"post_excerpt_stackable":"<p>It&#8217;s time to pour concrete inside of the ICF blocks to finish the foundation. \u00a0A conveyor truck was brought in to make it easy to fill along the wall perimeter.
